Healthy Hygiene for Your Home - 5

Here is a question that a reader sent recently regarding carpets:

Hey Sharon,
On a quick note, I checked your blog and could not find anything on carpet-spot remover. Have any good tips? Thank you so much.

In Him,
Jeanette

Thank you Jeanette for your question! My answer is to use the same recipe for the hydrogen peroxide stain remover from an earlier post (click here for the recipe). Spray it on the spot (try an inconspicuous area first to make sure it doesn't cause discoloration). Let set for a few minutes and then wipe with a clean terry rag. If that does not work, try this commercial product (Quick & Brite) that is completly safe for children and pets and the environment (as well as for adults).

And may your carpet be spotless!

Do you have any tips on buying cookware? I read and heard about using certain cookware with certain coatings having an association with risks for cancer. I am really confused about what is considered "safe" to use.

Hi Sharon,

While perusing your blog, I just had to share this story with you. My son woke up one morning with a bloody nose. Unfortunately the blood got all over the white carpet. A few hours had passed and I had forgotten to clean it up. The blood had already dried up, so I thought, what can I do? Then it clicked...Hydrogene Peroxide! Since the blood had dried, I dabbed it with some water then poured a little bit of H.P. on the stains. My son Oooed and Ahhhed as it fizzed. Within a few minutes the blood stain was gone, no sign of it at all!!
