Come, Pray, Seek, Take

I wrote this poem for my oldest daughter many years ago, though she was not yet a Christian. Just within the past few days, she gave her like to Christ. How impossible it is for me to thank the gracious Lord enough for this eternal blessing. Finally, she is safe, come what may!

Come, Pray, Seek, Take

Come now, humble-hearted,
To God’s word imparted

Find daily His mercies are new.
Come now, humble-hearted;
God’s work He has started
Your mind and your thoughts to renew.
Come now, humble-hearted,
God’s word has been charted
It tells of His promise to you.
Come now humble-hearted,
Your sea will be parted;
You’ll find that His promise is true.

Pray now without ceasing
And watch God release
Your heart from the power of sin.
Pray now without ceasing
And watch God decrease
The hold of the world from within.
Pray now without ceasing
And watch God increase
Your faith and devotion for Him.
Pray now without ceasing
And watch God unleash
His answers for you without end.

Seek God with great zeal
And watch Him reveal
His heart of compassion and love.
Seek God with great zeal
And watch Him make real
His presence to you from above.
Seek God with great zeal
And watch as He heals
Your wounds with His mercy, Beloved.
Seek God with great zeal
And find as you kneel,
His Spirit – a comforting dove.

Take your cross and come after
The Savior and Master;
The prize is too great to resign.
Take your cross and come after
Though men chide with laughter.
God’s wrath is on those who decline.
Take your cross and come after
Cool streams and green pasture.
Be fed by the Shepherd Divine.
Take your cross and come after
To halls alabaster
At Christ’s table forever to dine.

  1. Hi Sharon,
    Tried to subscribe and I think I may have done something wrong. It says that it's not able to do feedburner email subscriptions? BTW, enjoying reading your blog very much. It is sweet food for the soul when I have quiet moments in the evening!
    love,
